Another person was injured in the incident
Three people have been killed and another injured in separate road accidents in Tangail and Brahmanbaria districts.
In Tangail, a pickup truck helper, Bappi, 26, was killed on spot and the driver was left injured, when he lost control over his vehicle that overturned on the east side of Bangabandhu Bridge in Tangail around 8am on Friday.
As a result, hundreds of vehicles were stuck on both sides of the bridge forming a huge tailback. Later, traffic movement became regular as the overturned truck was removed from the road.
Confirming the matter to Dhaka Tribune, Bangabandhu Bridge East Zone police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mosharraf Hossain said: "The pick-up truck carrying fish was on its way from North Bengal, when the accident occurred. Later, the injured driver was taken to Tangail General Hospital for treatment."
In Brahmanbaria, two people were killed in separate road accidents on Comilla-Sylhet highway and Sultanpur area of sadar upazila on Thursday night.
The deceased are Zuhurul Haque, 90, from Gokarna ghat area of Brahmanbaria town and Nazrul Islam, 32, from Kumarpara of railway colony in Akhaura municipality area.
Nazrul worked as a plant operator in Bangladesh Gas Fields Company Limited.
Police said Zuhurul was waiting for a bus in Fulbaria bus stop when a motorbike ran him over, leaving him injured. Locals then took him to Brahmanbaria Sadar Hospital, where the duty doctors declared him dead.
In another incident, a CNG-run auto-rickshaw was on its way to sadar upazila from Akhaura, when it rammed into the back of a parked truck. Consequently, Nazrul was thrown off the auto-rickshaw on to the road, after which another speeding truck ran him over, leaving him dead on the spot.
Confirming the matter, Brahmanbaria Sadar Model police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Selim Uddin said the bodies have been kept in the district’s sadar hospital.
