The Health Department also said that there are no means of testing dengue in the public hospitals of Khulna. Though the private hospitals provide the service, it is really expensive, and the tests cost around Tk1,100-Tk1,500.

Khulna Health Department (Disease Control) Assistant Director Dr Ferdousi Akhter said: “A cell for preserving the information on dengue has been opened at the divisional level. A three-member dengue prevention team has been established, which I will lead.”

She added: “Dengue infected people should stay in complete rest and drink ample amount of water, juice and other liquids. They can intake painkiller drugs like paracetamol but never intake antibiotics. The infected ones should be rushed to hospital."
