A total of six accused have already given confessional statements

A Barguna court placed Rifat Farazi, one of the key accused in Refat Sharif murder case, on a fresh seven-day remand. The latest remand order was third in a row.

Barguna Senior Judicial Magistrate Sirajul Islam Gazi passed the order after police produced Farazi before the court with a fresh remand plea.

At the same time, one of the suspects in Refat murder trial Kamrul Hasan Siamon has made confessional statement of associating himself in the murder under section 164 of code of criminal procedure.

Barguna police station inspector and also the investigation officer (IO) in the case said Saimon admitted in his confessional statement that he had offered assistance to the attackers to escape the crime scene with his motorbike.

A total of six accused -- Oli, Tanvir, Chandon, Hasan, Sagor and Najmul -- have already given confessional statements about their involvement in Rifat’s murder, the IO confirmed.

Police have so far arrested a total of 13 suspects in connection with Refat murder trial.

On July 2, the prime accused Nayon Bond in the daylight killing of Refat Sharif in front of his wife in Barguna town died in an alleged shootout with the police.

On Jun 25, Refat Sharif, 23, was attacked in broad daylight by a group of assailants wielding long, sharp weapons in Barguna town's College Road area as his wife desperately tried to save him.

He later died of excessive bleeding caused from the wounds he sustained during the attack, according to a post-mortem examination conducted at the Barishal Medical College Hospital.

Refat’s father Dulal Sharif lodged a case with Barguna police against 12 people.
