'Doctors have extracted blood clots from Ershad's body through dialysis'
Jatiya Party (JaPa) acting chairman GM Quader has said party chief HM Ershad will stay on life support as long as there is the possibility for his recovery.
The JaPa acting chairman, also Ershad’s younger brother, made the statement while briefing reporters on the condition of the party chief’s health at JaPa's Banani headquarters on Thursday.
"Ershad's pulse and blood pressure are normal. Doctors have extracted blood clots from his body through dialysis. If his kidney and liver function return to normal, then he can be released from the life support system," GM Quader said, quoting doctors of the Combined Military Hospital (CMH).
He also said there has been some improvement in Ershad's digestion system, and there is no trace of blood in his stool.
GM Quader further said the government will bear the cost of Ershad’s treatment, as he has minister status.
Meanwhile, JaPa Secretary General Md Mashiur Rahman Ranga said: "Ershad will be given treatment as long as his body responds to it. If needed, all JaPa members will contribute for his treatment."
The former military strongman was admitted to CMH in Dhaka on June 26, as he has been suffering from various health-related issues over the last nine months.
