Two others injured in a road accident on the Dhaka-Narayanganj link road
Nine people were killed and eight others injured in road accidents in Bagerhat, Pabna, Natore, Madaripur and Narayanganj.
The accidents occurred from Sunday to Monday.
In Bagerhat, two men were killed and three others injured in a road accident on the Khulna-Maowa Highway.
The deceased, Rabbi Sheikh, 20, and Jahangir Alam, 43, were killed when a cattle-laden truck and three wheeler collided head-on, in Fakirhat upazila on Monday.
Fakirhat police station OC Abu Zihad said: "We seized the truck but its driver fled the scene. We sent the injured to the Fakirhat Upazila Health Complex and later as their conditioned worsened they were transferred to the Khulna Medical College and Hospital.
In Pabna, three motorcyclists were killed in a road accident in the Sujanagar upazila on Monday.
The deceased were identified as Rafiqul Islam, 35, Moktar Hossain, 32, and Isa, 28.
Aminpur Police Station OC Mominul Islam said: "A truck rammed into the motorcycle carrying the three from behind in the Birahimpur area on the Dhaka-Pabna Highway around 12:30pm, leaving them dead on the spot. We seized the vehicle but its driver managed to flee the scene."
In Natore, a man was killed and two others injured in a road accident in the Baraigram upazila on Monday. The deceased, Robi Hossain, hailed from Bheramara upazila, Kustia.
According to sources, a Shyamoli Transportation bus collided head-on with a truck in the Agran Sutirpar area killing the truck driver and injuring other two including the bus driver. A team of Natore Fire Service rescued the two injured and sent them to the Natore Sadar Hospital.
Baraigram police station OC Dilip Kumar Das said: "A case has been filed and we are acting on it."
In Madaripur, two men were killed and one injured in a road accident in the Kalkini upazila, Madaripur on Sunday.
The deceased were identified as, Sagar Hossain, 27, and Shahjada, 25.
According to the sources, the motorcycle carrying the three lost control in the Boyatipur area and hit a roadside tree killing the two and leaving Lavlu Haque,18 injured.
Dasar police station OC Goulam Kibria said: "The accident occurred as the high speeding motorcycle lost control. We sent the injured to the Kalkini Upazila Health Complex.
In Narayanganj, a youth was killed and two others injured in a road accident on the Dhaka-Narayanganj link road.
The deceased, Nur Mohammed Badol, 18, died in the accident which occurred around 10pm on Sunday.
Locals and police said, a bus hit Badol’s motorcycle, killing him on the spot and injuring two others—who were riding with Badol.
They were admitted to the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) with critical injuries.
Fatullah model police station Superintendent (SI) Probir Kumar said: “We are trying to arrest the bus driver and helper. The body has been handed over to family.”
A case has been filed with the police.
