Chhatra League leader found dead at in-laws’ home

A Bangladesh Chhatra League leader has been found hanging from his in-laws’ home in Benapole.

The deceased was identified as Rabiul Islam Sumon, a 25-year-old joint secretary of Benapole municipality unit of Chhatra League from Sharsha upazila’s Durgapur village.

The body was found at his in-laws' house in Gazipur village on Monday night, reports UNB.

Alamgir Hossain, officer-in-charge of Benapole Port police station, said Sumon went to his in-laws' house on Monday morning.

Later that night, Sumon's family was informed that he committed suicide by hanging himself.

Police went to the spot after being informed and recovered his body.

Meanwhile, the Sumon’s father Mannan alleged that Sumon, who was at loggerheads with his in-laws, was premeditatedly murdered, and his body was hanged to make it appear that he committed suicide.
