The child was murdered for ransom not being paid to the abductors
Birampur Thana Police has apprehended three in the murder case of child Ashik Rana who was murdered when no ransom was paid.
Birampur police station officer-in-charge (OC) Maniruzzaman said: "We have arrested three accused after carrying out operations yesterday at various places in Birampur. They are Rozina Begum (30), Piaru (32), Akram (32). All of them are residents of Hamlakuri village."
Father Akhtaruzzaman Shahin and mother Rozina Begum went to sleep with their 2 years and 8 month old child, Ashik Rana, but woke up at around 3am to find their child was no longer with them.
At one point the abductors called the maternal aunt of the child and demanded two lakh taka.
The abductors said they would return the child once they were paid the ransom they had demanded. Later, at around 8 am, the locals found the disfigured dead body of Ashik.
The police recovered the corpse and brought it to the police station when they heard about the incident.
The child's mother, Rozina Begum, accused the three detained and five or six others unnamed, and filed a case with the police station.
Police conducted an operation the same night and arrested Rozina Begum (30), Piaru (32), and Akram (32).
