Woman hacked to death in Kushtia

Police have already arrested the woman’s ex-husband in connection with the incident

A woman has been hacked to death by a group of assailants in Khoksha upazila of Kushtia.

The incident occurred at the woman’s residence in Helalpur village of the upazila around 11pm on Thursday.

The deceased is Sabina Yasmin, 40, wife of Badshah Ali.

Victim’s son Badhon Hossain said: “My parents divorced six or seven years  back, but still having dispute over the divorce case. Last night a group of miscreants invaded our house, and hacked my mother to death when she was exchanging heated conversation with my father over the phone.”

Following the incident, Badhon filed a case with Khoksha police station accusing his father Badshah Ali, and unidentified others. 

ABM Mehedi Masud, officer-in-charge of Khoksha police station, said: “Sabina’s body was recovered, and sent to Kushtia General Hospital for autopsy. 

“We have already arrested the woman’s ex-husband, and others in connection with the incident. An investigation is underway to ascertain the murderers.”
