His Facebook post triggered anger and criticism among locals
Police have detained a Satkhira youth for reportedly hurting the religious sentiments of people via a post on a social media platform.
He was arrested in Bahera village of Debhata upazila on Thursday night.
Kiran Kumar Das, 25, was arrested, confirmed Debhata police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Biplab Kumar Saha to Dhaka Tribune.
Sources said Kiron posted a status on his personal Facebook account, making disparaging comments about the Muslim religion – triggering much anger and criticism among locals. Therefore, Kiran later deleted the status.
Later, union Juba League General Secretary Saiful Islam filed a case, naming Kiran as the main accused and his brother Hiran Kumar Das, 22, as the secondary accused.
Police conducted a drive and apprehended the main accused.
