Woman, son hacked to death in Sirajganj

A case was filed, however no one was arrested as yet in this regard, till the filing of this report

A woman and her son were hacked to death by unknown assailants, in the early hours of on Thursday, in Ullapara upazila of Sirajganj.

After being contacted by locals, police reached the victims’ house in Moheshpur village of Durganagar union, and recovered the bodies in the morning.

The deceased were identified as Rizia Khatun, 80, and her son, retired army personnel Altab Hossain Bakul, 50.

Confirming the matter to Dhaka Tribune, Ullapara police station Officer-in-Charge Dewan Kowshik said they found multiple injuries inflicted by sharp weapons on their heads, and the veins in different parts of their bodies were slashed. Police found both bodies in the same room.

Preparations are underway to dispatch the bodies to Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnessa Mujib General Hospital for autopsy. 

Ruksana Hossain, Shimul, and Keya, daughters of the slain Atlab Hossain, said their father retired from the defence force 10-12 years ago, and had been living in their hometown. He never had any dispute with anyone, so they are perplexed about who could have committed the outrageous murders. 

However, there were some minor feud with some of the villagers over a mosque which was constructed by their family. But they could not specifically identify anyone in this regard, they added.
