Five killed in road accidents in 4 districts

At least five people were killed in road accidents in four districts of the country on Monday

In Dinajpur, two motorcyclists were killed in a road accident at Maddhapara area on Parbatipur- Rangpur road of Dinajpur's Parbatipur upazila.

The deceased are Fiju Rahman, 50, and his son, Sobnur Rahman, 24. 

Maddhapara police post Sub-Inspector (SI), Moslem Uddin confirmed the incident, saying: "At around 11am, in Parbatipur- Rangpur road, a bus of Rekha Paribahan pushed the motorcycle which resulted in two deaths."

In Narayanganj, a truck driver was killed in a road accident at Tengrartek area on Asian highway road of Narayanganj's Rupganj upazila.

The deceased was identified as Jahidul Islam, 40.

Kachpur highway police station OC, Kaiyum Sarder confirmed the matter, and said: "At around 4am, a long-vehicle from Benapole, loaded with electric poles lost its control, and hit a truck parked on Asian highway road, and ran over Jahidul.

"Jahidul died on the spot, and additionally, the accident injured four others.”

In Munshiganj, a man named Jamir Hossain, 37, was killed in a road accident in Munshiganj's Srinagar upazila.

The accident occurred at around 9.30am. Jamir was severely injured after a Maoa-bound truck loaded with metal rods hit Jamir in Srinagar on Dhaka -Mawa highway. 

Jamir was taken to Srinagar Upazila Health Complex, and later to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital, where he succumbed to his injury.

Hasara highway police post Sub-Inspector, Md Saidul confirmed the matter, and said, the truck was seized but the driver and helper of the truck fled.

In Sirajganj, a school student was killed under a truck when its helper was taking driving lesson in Ullapara upazila of Sirajganj yesterday.

The accident happened at Pagla Boalia Govermemnt Primary School playground of the upazila in the morning.

The victim was-- identified as Maruf Hossen, 9, son of Shahadat Hossen—a 3rd grade student of the aforementioned school and a resident of Boalia North Para village.

“On information, the truck was seized and the driver fled the spot,” Dewan Kowshiq Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Ullapara police station said.

Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md Arifuzzaman and the mayor of the municipality Nazrul Islam visited the spot.

Upazila administration gave Tk20,000 and the mayor gave Tk5,000 donation to the victim’s family.
