In Savar, two motorcycle riders were killed instantly when a truck hit them in the morning
At least four people were killed in separate road accidents in Jessore and Savar yesterday.
In Jessore, two schoolboys died in a crash on the Jessore-Chuknagar highway in Bijoyrampur Khoitoala area of Monirampur upazila in the morning.
The victims were identified as Ashiqur Rahman, son of Khairul Basar of Dholigati village, and Al Amin, son of Jalaj Uddin from Monirampur upazila.
They were meritorious students of Class-10 at Dholigati High School. Ashiqur was the first boy and Al Amin was second in the class, said sources.
According to sources, the classmates were returning home from a coaching centre in the area on a motorcycle when a Dhaka-bound bus of Hanif Paribahan hit them, leaving them critically injured.
Ashiqur died while being taken to Monirampur Upazila Health Complex, while Al Amin succumbed to his injuries on the way to Jessore General Hospital, said locals.
After the accident, local villagers and students of the school blocked the Jessore-Chuknagar highway with logs around 9am to protest the deaths.
On information, police went to the scene and brought the situation under control around 10am after negotiating with the protesters.
Rafiqul Islam, officer-in-charge of Monirampur police station, confirmed the incident.

The deceased, Sheikh Sadar Ali, 61, and Alamgir Hossain, 28, were from Narail and Satkhira districts respectively.
Shafikul Islam, sub-inspector of Savar Highway police station, said the truck hit the motorcycle in Sreepur Bus Stand area, leaving the two riders dead at the scene.
Police later recovered the bodies and handed them over to their families, the officer added.
