A woman has been reportedly killed, with a pickaxe, by her husband in Dinajpur.
The incident took place on Monday morning.
The deceased is identified as Kirina Murmu, 45.
After the incident, husband Robin Mardi, 60, tried to commit suicide by drinking pesticides.
Mardi is currently under police custody and seeking medical help at Ghoraghat upazila health complex.
Confirming the matter, Ghoraghat police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Amirul Islam said: “The couple got into a fight and at one point Robin hit his wife on head with a pickaxe, killing her on the spot. Later, he tried to kill himself.”
The dead body has been sent to M Abdur Rahim Medical College and Hospital in Dinajpur for autopsy, said the OC
Legal actions will soon be taken against Mardi, he added.
