6 trafficked Bangladeshi women return home

ix trafficked Bangladeshi women returned home on Monday.

At around 2.30pm on Monday, Indian Border Security Force (BSF) handed the six women over to Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) at the Benapole checkpost.

Benapole checkpost BGB camp Naib Subedar, Atiar Rahman, confirmed the news and said: "The women were lured to Calcutta by human traffickers with false promises of better jobs and were detained by Indian police. 

"The Indian court ordered the women to be held in custody at two shelter homes, Sanglap and Lilua.

"Later, they were returned to Bangladesh under the homecoming act."

Bangladesh Legal Aid and Services Trust's Jessore unit lawyer, Advocate Nasima Khatun said, after finishing all the necessary paperwork with Benapole Port police station, the women would be handed over to their families.
