Two construction workers died after being trapped in a septic tank in Savar municipality area on Thursday evening.
The deceased are Khokon, 55, and Sohel, 45.
According to police and locals, Khokon was working at a building site in Mojidpur area of Savar. He went inside the septic tank to take out some bamboo poles used for casting. Getting no response from Khokon after some time, Sohel also entered the tank and was trapped inside.
Later, a fire service team retrieved the bodies of the two workers from the tank.
Savar Fire Service Senior Station Officer Liton Ahmed confirmed the matter, saying: "The two workers might have died from lack of oxygen inside the septic tank."
Savar Sadar police station Sub-Inspector (SI) Abu Sayed Pial said that the bodies of the two workers were sent to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital in Dhaka for autopsy.
A case will be filed over the incident, added the SI.
