The deceased was also a suspected rapist, out on bail

A suspected robber has been killed in a mob beating in Bonkolapara under Subid Bazar of Sylhet city.

The incident occurred around 11:30pm on Wednesday.

The deceased is Dudu Khan, 35, son of Kamal Khan hailing from the same area.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Sylhet Metropolitan Police (SMP) Zedan Al Musa confirmed the matter.

Locals said  a group of robbers attacked a house, at Golap Miah point, around 9:30am and looted three shops.

After a mosque announcement, locals gathered and then chased the robbers. All but Dudu managed to escape – and he was beaten to death by the mob.

Acting on information, Officer in Charge of Sylhet Airport police station Shahadat Hossain reached the spot and recovered the dead body. The dead body was then sent to the Osmani Medical College Morgue for autopsy.

A hatchet was also recovered from the scene.

Two or three weeks ago Dudu Khan came out of prison on bail—with two others—the suspects of an April 14 gang rape.
