President M Abdul Hamid left Dhaka for Tajikistan on a seven-day official visit on Thursday.
He will attend the 5th Summit of Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), which will be held in Dushanbe, Tajikistan on June 14-15.
CICA is a multi-national forum for enhancing cooperation towards promoting peace, security and stability in Asia. It is headquartered in Nur-Sultan, the capital of Kazakhstan.
A VVIP flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines carrying the president took off from HazratShahjalal International Airport at 4pm, reports UNB.
Apart from joining the summit, President Hamid is also scheduled to visit Uzbekistan on June 16.
The president's wife, RashidaKhanom, and Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen are also accompanying him.
Cabinet secretary, the chiefs of three services, the dean of the diplomatic corps, and senior civil and military officials saw the president off at the airport.
President Hamid will be received by senior Tajik officials at Dushanbe International Airport at 10:10pm (local time).
He will return home on June 19.
