Peoples' expectation for improved service has grown manyfold
Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) Mayor AJM Nasir Uddin underscored the need for improved coordination among the service providers.
The mayor came up with the observation on Wednesday during a meeting of the civil society coordination committee under the City Governance Project, funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA.)
"It is near impossible to turn Chittagong into a habitable city without the mutual cooperation and improved coordination of the city's service providers and stakeholders. All the development projects being undertaken by the city corporation have to be carried out with shared vision, mutual respect, and in-depth understanding of each other’s role with the goal of achieving better outcomes and improved customer experience," said the mayor.
Mayor Nasir said: "This is our city and we have to develop the city on our own. The port city residents' expectation towards the city corporation (CCC) has grown and we have to work to meet peoples' expectation.
Referring to the nagging traffic congestion, the city mayor added that city's traffic problem has become all pervasive. Therefore, he urged the city planners and experts to address the problem with due importance.
"The Chittagong City Corporation (CCC), Chittagong Development Authority (CDA) and the traffic department must work together to this end," said the mayor.
Panel mayor Nisar Uddin Ahmed Manju, CCC CEO Md Shamsuddoha, CCC secretary Md Abu Shahed Chowdhury, Chief Engineer Lt Col Mohiuddin Ahmed and representatives from the civil society coordination committee and city development committees, attended the meeting.
