Drug dealer killed in Comilla ‘gunfight’

The deceased, Bappi alias Rajib, 26, was shot and injured by the police and later taken to Comilla Medical College and Hospital where the physician declared him dead

A drug dealer was killed in a “gunfight” with police on the Hossainpur-Lalmoti road in North Bijoypur of Comilla Sadar, in the early hours of Tuesday.

The deceased, Bappi alias Rajib, 26, was shot and injured by the police and later taken to Comilla Medical College and Hospital where the physician declared him dead.

According to police, at around 2.30am on Tuesday, police raided the area to seize drugs. At one point, Rajib and his associates started shooting at the police who fired back in self defense.  Rajib was injured in the gunfight.

Comilla Sadar South police station OC Kamal Krishna Dhar said the deceased is a listed drug dealer and there are more than 11 cases under the narcotics act against him.
