After the shootout, police rescued the bullet-injured duo and sent them to Feni Sadar Hospital
At least three people were killed in alleged gunfight with law enforcers in Feni and in Nawabganj upazila of Dhaka on Sunday.
In Feni, two suspected drug dealers were killed in an alleged gunfight with the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) at Fatehpur in Feni Sadar upazila, reports our correspondent Rafiqul Islam.
One of the deceased was identified as Mahbubul Hasan Rubel, son of Habibur Rahman, hailing from Bangura village in Comilla. The other one has yet to be identified.
RAB 7 Camp Company Captain squadron leader Shafayet Jamil Fahim said: “RAB raided an abandoned house in the rail gate area around 1:30am on early Sunday, after being tipped off that a gang of drug dealers was there.”
“The criminals opened fire as soon as the RAB team reached the spot, triggering a gunfight,” he said.
After the shootout, police rescued the bullet-injured duo and sent them to Feni Sadar Hospital, where the on-duty doctors declared them dead, said Shafayet.
Resident Medical Officer of Feni Sadar Hospital Dr Md Abu Taher said: “The two dead bodies are undergoing autopsy at the hospital’s morgue.”
From the site, RAB seized 10,000 yaba pills, two firearms, 17 bullets and five bullet shells.
In Dhaka, a suspected criminal was killed in an alleged gunfight with police in Nawabganj upazila of Dhaka.
The incident occurred at Majhirkanda area early on Sunday, reports UNB.
The deceased, Ripon, 35, hailing from Rajoir in Madaripur district, had 14 cases filed against him, including murder and robbery.
Mostafa Kamal, officer-in-charge (OC) of Nawabganj Police Station, said: “Acting on information that a group of criminals was preparing to commit robbery, a team of police went to the spot around 1am.
“As the team reached there, the criminals opened fire at them, triggering a gunfight.”
After the skirmish, Ripon's body was recovered from the spot.
