Border Guards Bangladesh (BGB) has seized a large quantity of banned Indian medicines and saris at the Hili border area of Dinajpur.
The BGB conducted two different drives early on Saturday but failed to arrest anyone related with the smuggling.
Border Observation Post (BOP) Camp Commander Nayeb Subedar Mokhlesur of Hili’s Mongla BGB said: “Acting on a tip-off, we conducted a drive and upon seeing us, the smugglers fled, leaving behind six sacks.”
“The sacks contained 32,000 Dexin tablets, 20, 000 Practin tablets, and 63 good quality Indian saris.”
In a different drive, the patrol team recovered 108 Indian saris from the same area.
The seized materials, worth Tk22.44 lakh, were submitted to the Hili tariff warehouse.
