Rapid Action Battalion conducted special drives with several patrol teams at Kanchpur, Madanpur and Chittagong road areas on Monday
Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) have arrested 19 alleged extortionists on charges of robbery and harassment from different areas of the Dhaka-Chittagong highway in Narayanganj.
According to RAB-11, they conducted special drives with several patrol teams at Kanchpur, Madanpur and Chittagong road areas and caught the 19 extortionist red-handed early on Monday.
Confirming the incident to Dhaka Tribune, Additional Police Super of RAB-11 Alep Uddin said: “The detainees were engaged in robbery on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway for a long time. They admitted to their crimes after primary interrogation.”
“We are planning to file cases against them,” he added.
The arrestees are Mosarrof, 31, Shameem, 35, Babor, 31, Emon, 35, Ershad, 34, Sumon, 34, Jahangir Alam, 40, Alamgir Hossain, 32, Salam, 50, Jiaur, 25, Mahfuzur, 25, Mohsin, 30, Munsur, 38, Arshad, 47, Johur, 52, Faruq, 33, Humayun, 37, Hasan, 28, and Monirul, 30.
RAB also recovered cash worth one lakh taka and 18 mobile phones from them.
