16,000 yaba pills seized, 2 drug dealers arrested
Two drug dealers have been arrested with 16,000 yaba pills in Chandpur.
Chandpur upazila police station Superintendent (SP) Johidul Kobir informed the news at a press briefing on Sunday.
The seized yaba pills recovered in five bottles were said to be worth Tk50 lakh.
“Acting on a tip-off, a team of police officers – headed by Faridganj police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Abdur Kobir, Superintendent (SI) Nurul Islam and Superintendent (SI) Abdul Awal – went to arrest the drug dealers on Sunday around 8am,” SP said.
The arrestees were Md Amin, 40 and Md Tariqul Islam, 31.
They had hid the yaba pills on their body and their motorcycle tanker, police said.
“They buy the yaba pills from Cox’s Bazar and distribute them to Chandpur upazila, Munshiganj upazila and many more upazilas. They are expert drug dealers,” SP said.
Amin has been accused in three cases in the Habiganj police station and one case in Chandpur model police station.
Tariqul has been accused in one case in Munshiganj Tongibari police station, one case in DMP Ganderia police station and one case in Dhaka Railway police station.
