This is the first time the government has taken such an initiative
Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC) has allocated 30 buses for transportation of garments workers during the Eid-ul-Fitr.
This is the first time that the government has taken such an initiative.
The buses will remain standby at Gazipur Chowrasta from the morning of June 3, a BRTC official said on Saturday.
The garment workers can use the transports to travel to different destinations till the day before Eid.
BRTC Deputy General Manager M Moniruzzaman said, workers face a huge transportation crisis, going home for Eid, during the holiday rush.
"Many travel by taking serious risks," he said. "Keeping that in mind, this year, BRTC has decided to allocate 30 buses for them."
Besides, an additional 50 buses have been kept in reserve for general Eid travellers in different depots, according to a BRTC statement.
