Police officials condemned the attack and said strict actions will be taken against those who are trying to create unrest in Satkhira
Ten journalists were injured in an hour-long attack by hundreds of unknown miscreants at Satkhira Press Club yesterday.
Journalists who were beaten with hockey sticks and iron rods said, the miscreants disabled the CCTV cameras before launching the attack around 12am.
The law enforcement agencies – standby 100 yards away – rescued the injured journalists after a while.
Satkhira Press Club President Prof Abu Ahmed, District Correspondent Abul Kalam Azad of Channel I, Prothom Alo Staff Reporter Kallan Banerjee, and District Correspondent Mamataz Ahmed Bapi of Somoy TV were among the ten injured. They are recieiving treatment at Satkhira Sadar Hospital.
Deputy Commissioner & District Magistrate SM Mostafa Kamal, Satkhira Superintendent of Police Md Sajjadur Rahman and other police officials visited the spot after the attack.
Police officials condemned the attack and said strict actions will be taken against those who are trying to create unrest in Satkhira.
Journalists in the district called for human chain and rally on Friday morning to protest the attack.
The journalists claimed that they spotted Mir Mahmud Hasan Lucky and Mahi Alam among the attackers, brothers of Satkhira MP Mir Mushtaque Ahmed Robi.
