Bangladesh has recently seen a rise in incidents of rape across the country.
Police arrested three men in cases filed for raping minor girls and sent them to jail after producing before court on Saturday.
In Sunamganj, police arrested a school teacher for gang-raping an eight-grader in Jagannathpur upazila Friday night.
The arrested Mishon Sen, teacher of Syedpur Ideal Girls School, was sent to jail following a court order on Saturday.
The girl’s mother filed a case with Jagannathpur police station, on Friday.
According to the case statement, on March 4, the accused lured the girl to another teacher Abdus Samad’s house, where three men, Bappa, Samad, and Mishon, gang-raped her.
The girl became pregnant and was sent to Sunamganj Sadar Hospital.
In Pabna, police arrested a man in a case filed for raping a teenager in Bhangura upazila Friday night.
The arrested, Mojnu Sarker, was sent to jail following a court order on Saturday.
The girl’s father filed a case with Bhangura police station on Friday.
According to the case statement, five months ago, Mojnu, a neighbour, raped the girl on multiple occasions, finding her alone at her house. She subsequently fell pregnant and was taken to the upazila health complex on Wednesday.
In Habiganj, a 15-year-old boy was arrested on Thursday for raping a first-grader in Baniachong upazila last week.
The accused, a class VIII student of Kadirganj High School confessed to the rape in court on Friday afternoon. The court also recorded the child's statement who was later hospitalized. The suspect was sent to jail.
The girl’s mother filed a case with Baniachong police station on Thursday.
According to the case statement, on Tuesday the boy took the girl to a room and raped her when she was playing in the yard of her house. Hearing the girl scream, her family members rescued her.
Earlier this month, another first grader was reportedly raped by her neighbour in the upazila's Kakura village.
