Police have arrested two of the three main accused, with weapon in their possession
A woman was gang raped in Chayani union of Noakhali's Begumganj upazila on Thursday night.
Police have arrested two of the three main accused in the incident from Gangabor village of the same union on Friday morning. Law enforcement officials also recovered a firearm and one bullet from their possession.
The arrestees are - Saiful, 30, son of Mostafa hailing from Gangabor village, and Babu, 30, son of Kofil Uddin hailing from Rudropur village of Chayani union.
Husband of the rape survivor Md Amirul said: "I had disputes with the three accused - Saiful, Babu and Harun – over fish farming and they have threatened us regularly.
"Due to the dispute, they attacked my house with 60 to 70 goons, vandalizing it. The three then beaten up my family members and gang raped my wife," he added.
"They also stole Tk40,000 and a gold chain from my house," Amirul further said.
Officer in Charge (OC) of Begumganj police station Firoz Alam Mollah said: "Amirul has filed a cased against the three and the 60 to 70 unidentified goons. We have arrested two of the main accused and are conducting drives to arrest the third."
"The victim has been admitted to Noakhali General Hospital for medical tests," the OC added.
Resident Medical Officer (RMO) of Noakhali General Hospital Syed Mohiuddin Abdul Azim said: "Some of the medical tests have already shown signs of rape, and more will conducted on Saturday."
