Four people have died in separate incidents - struck by lightning - in Habiganj and Brahmanbaria
In Habiganj, the deceased are Sijil Mia, 45, of Gujakhair village, Nabiganj, Foysal Mia, 37, of Madhabpur upazila and Shima Urao, 26, of Chunarughat upazilla.
Nabiganj police station OC Ikbal Hossain said: "On Friday afternoon Sijil Mia went to a nearby haor to fish when it was raining. Locals found his body after he died at the spot as lightning struck."
Meanwhile in the same afternoon in the Chunarughat upazila, Shima was returning home during the storm. On her way a lightning bolt hit her and left her severely injured.
After locals rescued her and brought her to Habiganj Sadar Hospital, the duty doctor declared her dead, confirmed Chunarughat police station OC KM Azmiruzzaman.
In Chankabullah village of Madhabpur upazila Foysal Mia died at the spot in another thunderbolt strike when he was cutting paddy in the field.
Two others were injured in this incident, said Madhabpur Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mollika Dey.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Habiganj Fozlul Zahid Pabel announced a compensation of Tk20,000 for each family.
In Brahmanbaria, a man was killed in a lightning strike at Datmondol village in Nasirnagar upazila on Friday around 12pm.
According to locals, Rafi Uddin, was working in a paddy filled when a lightning bolt hit him and he died on spot.
Police recovered the body and sent it to a hospital for autopsy, said Inspector Kabir Hossain (investigation) of Nasirnagar police station.
