The police have arrested a ticket scalper with 50 train tickets of 61 seats from the Tin Puler Matha area under the Kotwali police station in Chittagong.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of Detective Branch (North) of Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) arrested the ticket scalper identified as Rutam Ali alias Jahangir, 47, on Friday.

During primary interrogation, the arrestee said that he had collected the tickets with the help of some dishonest railway booking clerks and members of Railway Nirapatta Bahini (RNB).

A case has been lodged against the scalper with the Kotwali police station in this connection.

Earlier sale of tickets remained suspended on Wednesday for some time at the Chittagong Railway Station due to a technical glitch in the server of the firm responsible for the station's computer networking system, causing immense suffering to the passengers. A large crowd was seen at the scene, standing in long queues to collect tickets.
