A case has been filed against 18 Jubo league activists

A Jubo league leader has gouged the eye of a driver—because of local sub-division and business disputes—in Ashulia.

The incident happened in the Sarkerbari mosque area on Wednesday.

The victim, Alam Hossain, 27, was admitted to Shaheed Taj Uddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital in Gazipur.

According to locals, Alam is Abid Sarker Limon's driver, who fell victim to an ongoing dispute between Limon and Jubo league leader Kabir Hossain.

A case has been filed naming ten anonymous activists and local Jubo league leader Kabir Hossain.

According to the case statement, Jubo league leader Kabir Hossain—along with 15-18 associates—attacked Limon and his driver. At one point during the dispute, they gouged Alam's eye. When locals came to rescue the victim, the attackers threatened them with a gun and left the spot.

Locals took the critical condition victims to the hospital.

One of the victims, local businessman Abid Sarker Limon said: “Jubo league leader Kabir Hossain and his associates attacked us with a pistol and locally-made guns. They gouged my driver’s eye and wounded me. I filed a case against them.”

Confirming the matter to Dhaka Tribune, Officer-in-Charge of Kashimpur police station, Akbar Ali Khan said: “A case has been filed about the referred incident. We are trying to arrest the accused.”
