Suspected yaba trader killed in Teknaf 'gunfight'

Policemen injured in the incident have received treatment at a local hospital

A suspected yaba trader has been killed in a "gunfight" with police in Teknaf upazila of Cox's Baxar district.

The deceased is Mohammad Ibrahim, 38—son of Nurul Islam alias Bolla—of Mistiripara area.

Teknaf police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Prodeep Kumar Das said: "Ibrahim is a top yaba trader. His associates opened fire at us when we went to the area to catch him around 11pm on Friday."

Police fired back in retaliation, injuring Brahim; his associates fled the scene.

The OC said he was declared dead when taken to Teknaf Health Complex.

The policemen injured in the incident have received primary treatment at the hospital.

Police also recovered firearms and yaba from the scene of the incident.
