Police arrested six people during a drive in East Muradpur Delipara
An activist of Jubo Dal was stabbed to death—allegedly by the activists of the local Awami League unit—over longstanding disputes, in East Muradpur Delipara in Sitakunda upazila of Chittagong.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Friday, reports UNB.
The deceased was identified as Abul Kalam, 30, an activist of Jubo Dal's Muradpur union unit, and son of Bazlur Rahman.
Quoting locals, assistant superintendent of Chittagong police, Shampa Rani Saha, said the supporters of local Awami League leader Mafiz swooped in on Kalam—and stabbed him—around 7:30 pm on Thursday — leaving him critically injured.
“Later, he was taken to Chittagong Medical College and Hospital where doctors declared him dead around 12:45 am,” said assistant sub-inspector of the hospital police camp Alauddin.
Police, in a drive, arrested six people in East Muradpur Delipara at night, reports UNB.
When contacted, Awami League leader Mafiz said he does not know anything about the murder.
