Wife among 3 held for murdering husband
A woman and her parents have been detained for allegedly murdering her husband in Dhannokhola village in Benapole of Jessore.
Jamal Hossain, 35, was murdered in his own home in the early hours of Wednesday. He was an expatriate from Malaysia. He had come to Bangladesh on Tuesday.
Benapole port police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abu Saleh Masud Karim confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune.
Police detained Jamal’s wife Ayesha, her father Riazul Islam Tuk and mother Fulburi over the murder.
The body has been sent Jessore morgue for a post-mortem.
OC Abu Saleh Masud Karim said: “We are looking into the incident. We have detained three people.
“We cannot say for sure who is responsible without proper investigation.”
Jamal’s father Habibur Rahman alleged that his son was killed by his wife and a man she was having an extramarital affair with.
“My son and Ayesha had been married for 15 years. The whole time he had been living in Malaysia. He had only come home three times in these 15 years. In his absence, his wife often left home with other men for days at a time,” he said.
“She killed him to continue her extramarital affair with another man,” Habibur added.
However, he refused to name the person Ayesha was having an affair with; saying he fears it might compromise his safety.
Locals said Ayesha attempted to electrocute her husband with an electric wire the last time he visited the country.
