Taking his request into account, the prime minister assured him that he will received these items very soon
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina sent an easy bike and a cow as gifts to a man from the Brikalika village in the Barhatta upazila of Netrakona.
Keeping to her promise, Hasina sent these items to Md Dalim, a local grocery shop owner, on Wednesday.
On Sunday, Dalim had called the prime minister on the government hotline and they had a conversation.
Dalim had expressed his inability to sustain his family with what he earned from the shop.
So, Hasina asked if he had any requests; in reply he asked for a cow and an easy bike which would help him sustain his livelihood.
Taking his request into account, the prime minister assured him that he will receive these items very soon.
Dalim was over the moon after receiving the gifts and said: “I never dreamed that an important and busy person like the prime minister would speak to a simpleton like me and ask about my life. This is not only a gift for me but also a sign of hope and inspiration for all living in poverty.
“I wish her success in all her endeavours and pray she live a long and healthy life.”
Netrakona Deputy Commissioner Md Moinul Islam said: “I received a call from the prime minister’s office explaining the story. I was then given Dalim’s phone number.”
“So, I along with the district administration handed over the gifted items to Dalim along with Tk5,000,” he added.
