RAB member accused of attempting to rape madrasa girl in Lakshmipur

The accused has denied all allegations against him

A Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) member has been accused of attempting to rape madrasa girl in Lakshmipur.

The rape attempt survivor, ninth-grade student of the Kamankhola Dakhil Madrasa, held a press conference at the Laxmipur Press club on Tuesday in this regard.

According to the rape attempt survivor, she along with her two of her male friends went to the Zila Stadium, adjacent to the RAB 11 camp, around 11am on Friday. 

The accused, Sumon, RAB 11 camp member (driver), allegedly threatened the survivor’s two male friends and scared them off from the spot.

The accused then held the survivor captive for half an hour and tried to rape her at the VIP gallery of the stadium.

Meanwhile, Robin and Ramjan, the male friends of the rape attempt survivor demanded justice for their friend and also said that they have filed complaints with the District Legal Aid Office and the district police super regarding the issue.

When contacted, the accused RAB member, Suman, denying all the allegations against him, said: "Nothing like a sexual assault happened that day. The girl and her friends came to the VIP gallery of the stadium. The girl was sitting intimately with one of her friends.

"Because of which I told them to leave the place and thereafter they left." 

RAB 11 Company Commander SP Naresh Chakma refused to comment regarding the issue and said: "If there is any specific complaint, we will investigating necessary steps will be taken upon that."
