‘Drug trader’ killed in Mymensingh ‘gunfight’

Heroin and yaba tablets were recovered from the spot

 A suspected drug trader has been killed in a “gunfight” with police at Harua in Ishwarganj upazila in Mymensingh district.

 Mostafa Hossain, 30, a resident of Khuliati village, was killed in the incident early Monday. 

Mostafa had been accused in four cases, reports the UNB. 

Detective Branch (DB) of Police Officer-in-Charge Shah Kamal Akand said, acting on a tip-off, a joint team of detectives and Ishwarganj police conducted a drive in the area around 12:45am.

 He said Mostafa and his associates hurled brick chips and fired shots at the team when they reached the spot, triggering a “gunfight.” 

Police rescued the  injured Mostafa and took him to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital (MMCH), where doctors pronounced him dead. 

Police also recovered 200g heroin, 100 pieces of yaba tablets and bullet shells from the spot.
