The identities of the deceased and injured in Noakhali are yet to be determined
At least eight people were killed and several others injured in road accidents yesterday in Chandpur, Noakhali, and Bandarban.
In Chandpur, two men were killed in a head-on collision between a CNG-run auto-rickshaw and a sand-laden truck in Bagra Bazar of Sadar upazila yesterday morning.
The CNG driver, Rafiq Gazi, 40, and his passenger, Mozammel, 23, died on the spot.
Police seized the truck but the truck driver fled the scene.
Chandpur Model police station OC, Nasim Uddin, said: "We are planning to file a case against the truck driver and his assistant."
"The bodies of the victims have been handed over to their families after primary investigation," he added.
In Noakhali, three people were killed and 15 injured when a bus lost control and fell into a roadside ditch on Sonapur-Ramganj road in Porkot union of Chatkhil upazila yesterday around 9:45am.
The identities of the deceased and injured are yet to be determined. The injured were taken to different local hospitals for treatment.
Chatkhil police station OC, Anwarul Islam, said: “A Lakshmipur-bound Janani Service bus crashed into a roadside ditch when the driver lost control of the steering, leaving three people dead on the spot, and many injured.”
In Bandarban, three people were killed and five others injured when a three-wheeler collided head-on with a mini truck in Fashiakhali of Lama upazila yesterday around 3pm.
The identities of the deceased and injured are yet to be determined. The injured were taken to several hospitals in Chakaria upazila of Cox’s Bazar.
