One to die for murder in Kushtia

Seven others sentenced to life imprisonment in a separate case

A Kushtia court sentenced a man to death and seven others to life in prison under separate cases filed for the killing of a woman and a man under Mirpur police station in Kushtia.

Judge Arup Kumar Gowshami of Kushtia Judge Court announced the verdict for the accused killer of the deceased man. 

Judge Munshi Moshiyar Rahman of the Woman and Child Repression Prevention Tribunal court, pronounced the verdict around 11 am on Tuesday, for the killing of the woman.

Azad Mondal alias Azad Saheb, 35, son of Sadek Ali Mondal of Baliashisha village of Mirpur upazila, was sentenced to death for murdering a woman, with a fine of one lakh taka imposed by the court. 

In the other case, the seven accused individuals sentenced to life imprisonment for killing a young man, were: Jamal Pramanik, Atar Ali, Zaman Hossain,  Asadul Molla, Meher Ali Malitha, Rubel Malitha, and Aslam Malitha. They were fined 20 thousand taka each by the court.

According to the court statements, deceased Tuli Khatun, 16, was tortured and killed by her husband Azad Mandal, assisted by his family, on May 18, 2016. The father of the murder victim filed the case with Mirpur police station, Bagerhat.

In the other case, deceased Dablu, 27, was hacked to death by the seven accused, on June 7, 2010. The brother of the victim, Atar Ali, filed the case against them with Mirpur police station, Kushtia.
