Additional IGP Rowshan Ara dies in Congo road accident

There were two other passengers in the vehicle, including SP Farzana

Additional Inspector General of Police (IGP) Rowshan Ara Begum, ppm, ndc, has been killed in a road accident while on a United Nations peacekeeping mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).

The incident took place in Kinshasa, DRC, around 6:30pm (Congo local time) on Sunday, confirmed Assistant Inspector General (AIG-Media and PR) Sohel Rana of Police Headquarters to the Dhaka Tribune.

The additional IGP was on her way to attend a Medal Parade of the BANFPU, when her vehicle collided with a civil truck and killed Rowshan Ara on spot.

The driver and two other passengers, which included Superintendent of Police (SP) Farzana, were reported to remain safe.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of Rowshan Ara Begum.

In a condolence message, the prime minister, who is now in London, prayed for the salvation of the departed soul and expressed sympathy to the bereaved family.
