The PSC sought applicants on April 8 last year for 4,792 posts of physicians

The Bangladesh Public Service Commission (PSC) on Tuesday published the results of the 39th Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) exam, organized especially for doctors.

A total of 4,542 candidates were recommended for the posts of assistant surgeons and 250 for assistant dental surgeons, according to a press release.

The PSC sought applicants on April 8 last year for 4,792 posts of physicians. The preliminary test was held on August 3, reports UNB.

Results for the preliminary test were published on September 6 last year.

A total of 13,750 candidates cleared the written test and took the viva-voce exam, which began on October 10 and concluded on March 7 this year.

According to PSC sources, the Health Ministry had previously sent a letter to the Ministry of Public Administration urging them to recruit an extra 2,250 doctors.

A copy of the letter was sent to the PSC. However, since PSC received no further response from the Health Ministry, publishing of the results was delayed.
