Police continue to arrest men in cases filed over rape and attempt to rape women and children across the country.

In Ashulia, police on Tuesday arrested four men for reportedly gang-raping a female readymade garments worker.
The accused Md Palash, 21, Md Sujon Sikder, 20, Md Ferdous, 25, and Kabir Hossain, 30, were arrested in a case filed by the woman following the incident on Monday.
In the Kathgara area, according to the woman, several men assaulted her and her husband, tied her husband to a tree and raped her.
Ashulia police station Inspector Md Ziaul Islam said the woman was sent to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
In Jhenaidah, police arrested Mahbubur Rahman, 32, and sent him to jail for raping a woman in the Kaliganj upazila on Tuesday,.
Kaliganj police station OC Yunis Ali said: “On Monday, the woman filed a case, which stated that Mahbubur abducted the woman under death threat and raped her in a deserted place. The woman was sent to the Jhenaidah Hospital.”
In Kushtia, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested a man named Morshed, 21, in a case filed for raping a seventh-grader in the Sadar upazila.
RAB 12 at press briefing said: “The girl filed a case following the incident on Sunday, based on which Morshed was arrested.”
In Feni, police arrested two men for attempting to rape two teenagers in the Chhagalnaiya upazila.
The accused Saddam, 24, and Robiul, 25, attempted to rape the girls after they ran away from their home in Comilla and came to Feni.
On Tuesday, the duo gave their confessional statements before the Feni Senior Judicial Magistrate Dhrubo Joyti Pal.
In Habiganj, a first-grader was raped reportedly by an 18-year-old in the Udavpur village of the Ajmiriganj upazila.
According to locals, a neighbour, Arjun Das, 18, took the girl to a deserted spot and raped her on Monday evening.
When the girl screamed for help, and as the locals rescued her and sent her to the Habiganj Sadar Hospital, Arjun fled.
Ajmiriganj police station OC Sheikh Nazmul Haque said: "We visited the spot. The accused Arjun is on the run. We are trying to arrest him."
In Gopalganj, the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on Monday arrested Jamal Sheikh, 35, in a case filed for raping a fourth-grader in the Muksudpur upazila of Jamalpur.
According to the case statement, on April 19, Jamal raped the girl in a nearby garlic field, while she was picking garlic there around 6am.
When the girl came home, she fell sick, and her family took her to the Faridpur Medical College Hospital.
RAB 8 Acting Company Commander Debashish Karmakar said: “We are going to hand him over to the Muksudpur police station."
In Rajbari, a case was filed against a jailer of the Rajbari District Jail, for allegedly raping a prisoner's wife.
The woman filed the case with the Rajbari Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal on Monday. The court has set a hearing date for this case on May 13.
According the case statement, on February 1, the victim went to visit her detained husband at the jail, when the accused, Anisur Rahman Ajjul, 35, offered to release her husband for Tk50,000 within seven days.
On the pretext of going to meet a lawyer, Anisur took the woman to a deserted place and raped her. The incident was filmed on a phone by one of Anisur's associates.
He then threatened to rape her again on April 24, at a cremation ground beside the jail.
Rajbari Deputy Commissioner Md Shawkat Ali said: "The jail superintendent has been ordered to investigate the matter."
In Tangail, a case was filed after woman was reportedly raped onmultiple occasions by a local Pir in the name of treatment in the Dhanbari upazila.
Police arrested the Pir’s son in this connection, on Tuesday.
The woman was taken into police custody and was sent to the Tangail General Hospital.
