No case filed yet over his death
Police have recovered the body of a tenth-grader from Sandhya river, at Ramjankathi area of the district's Babuganj upazila.
The body of Nayon Hawladar, 15, a student of Bamrail AB Secondary School of the district's Wazirpur upazila, was recovered from the river, said Babuganj police station's officer-in-charge Dibakar Chandra Das.
The body has been sent to Sher- E-Bangla Medical College and Hospital morgue in Barisal for autopsy, he added.
Nayon’s parents work at a garments factory in Chittagong and he was living with his grandfather at Vorshakathi village in Wazirpur.
Police have detained Ashik, 17, and Atik, 15, from Vorshakathi area for interrogation.
According to Nayon’s family and police, he was missing after some teenagers called him out while he was working at his grandfather’s maize field on Saturday evening.
Nayon was chopped to death and thrown to Sandhya River packed in a sack after his family members did not respond to a ransom of Tk2 lakh demanded by his kidnappers.
No case has been filed yet, OC Dibakar remarked.
