Mother, son die from electrocution in Chuadanga

Four other family members were also critically injured 

A man and his elderly mother have died from electrocution in Jibannagar upazila of Chuadanga.

The incident which took place in Uttar Para area early Friday morning also left four other family members injured. 

The deceased are Omar Ali, 28 and his mother Ashura Begum, 60. 

The injured family members are his father Somir Ali Molla, 67, wife Kakoli Khatun, 26, brother Kader Ali Molla, 40 and his Kader's wife Rubina Khatun, 30.

Quoting locals, Jibannagar police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Ferdous Wahid said: “Omar came in contact with a live electric wire at his house early this morning (Friday). While rushing to help, his mother, father, wife, brother and his wife were also electrocuted.”

Locals cut the electric connection and took them to Jibannagar Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctor pronounced Ashura and Omar dead, he added.

Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr Rafiqul Islam said the injured were in critical condition.
