College teacher arrested on allegations of sexual harassment

A college teacher has been accused of sexually harassing a female student of Tarash Women's Degree College in Sirajganj.

Police arrested him on Thursday.

The accused, Mojaharul Islam, is a Computer Demonstrator at the same college in the district’s Tarash upazila. 

According to police, Mojaharul sexually harassed the student by touching her while signing her exam paper. He was on duty as an invigilator at Tarash Senior Alim Madrasa exam center under the Technical Education Board, during an HSC first year Computer Programming exam of Business Management.

The student placed a written complaint against the teacher with the college authorities, immediately after the exam. The principal handed the accused over to the police in the evening and the student herself filed a case against the perpetrator. 

The police sent the accused to district jail through the court on Thursday afternoon.

Rajarhat police station OC, Krishna Kumar, confirmed the matter, saying the arrested was taken to court on Tuesday, and then was sent to jail.

Officer in charge of Tarash police station, Mostafizur Rahman, said: According to the case file, Mojaharul had previously sexually harassed the same student in the college.
