The accused are the survivor’s in-laws and aided the rapist, according to the case
Police on Sunday arrested three members of the same family in a rape case filed in Langadu upazila, Rangamati.
The arrestees – Nur Islam, his wife Ayesha Khatun, and his mother Rahela Khatun – are the rape survivor’s in-laws, according to the case.
Speaking to Dhaka Tribune, Langadu police station OC Ranjan Kumar said: “After a case was filed by the woman’s father on Saturday, we arrested the woman’s in-laws for their aid in the rape.
“We are still trying to arrest Osman Prakash, the prime accused in the case.”
According to the case description, the woman had been locked into a room in her in-laws’ house, where Osman Prakash, a local kabiraj (village quack) were invited by the in-laws.
Osman allegedlypromised to locate the woman’s missing husband, and with the help of the accused, entered the locked room and raped her.
The woman was sent to Rangamati Medical College Hospital for medical test, the OC added.
