Students complained the delay occurred due to the negligence of the teachers
Four months have passed since the final examinations of the undergraduate program of Rajshahi University's History department ended in December, but the results are yet to be published.
According to the university ordinance, results are supposed to be published within two months of the exam's completion, which means the results should have been published by February 12.
Because of the delay in the publication of results, students have been unable to begin their postgraduate education, and have not been able to apply for any jobs either.
Students complained the delay occurred due to the negligence of the teachers. But the department authorities claimed the process to publish the results is underway, and they will be published "very soon".
Requesting anonymity, a student said: "Speaking to several teachers, we learned that the results are not being published due to the negligence of a few teachers."
Department sources said, final examinations of eight courses started in the first week of November last year, and lasted till December 9. By December 12, all examinations ended following an oral examination.
History department students have complained, students of other departments have already applied for the latest job notices, but they have stayed stuck because of the unpublished results.
"Although we notified teachers about the matter, they just brushed it off," they said.
Since the department's Masters classes do not start until the publication of the results, students have been unable to pursue higher studies as well.
Responding to a query, History department Chairperson, Professor Mortuza Khaled, said: "We are already done preparing the graduation results of the final year; however, we cannot publish them, as the third year results are not yet prepared.
"As many students sat for an improvement exam along with their final year exam, we have to create an average score, based on the cumulative results," he said. "We are hoping to publish the results by next week."
