The men were accused in two separate cases of gang rape in the district
Police arrested two men accused in a case filed for the gang rape of two schoolgirls in Baligram union of Kalkini upazila in Madaripur.
The prime accused, Noyon Sardar, 22, and Shakib Hawladar, 23, were arrested from Dhaka’s Keraniganj area on Thursday.
According to the police, on April 6, the two schoolgirls came to the Madaripur Lake area, to meet Noyon and Shakib, who took them to a deserted area near an IRRI rice field and raped them. The next day, the two took the girls to Noyon’s house where the girls were gang-raped by Noyon, Al Amin, and Robiul.
Police arrested another man accused in a case filed for posting online, a gang-rape video of a teenager in Shibchar upazila.
The prime accused, Parvez Munshi, was arrested from Dhaka’s Kamrangirchar area on the same day.
According to police sources, Parvez developed a relationship with the teenager on social media, took her to an abandoned building in the upazila’s Mogra Pukurpar area, and gang-raped her with his friends. He also recorded the heinous act and shared it on social media.
Madaripur Superintendent of Police, Subrata Kumar Hawladar, said: “With cases filed by the victim families, we have arrested these three accused men. We will continue our efforts to arrest the remaining.”
