The incidents occurred in Gazipur and Bogra
Two individuals have been killed in two different reported gunfights in different districts of the country.
In Gazipur, a suspected arms trader has been killed in a gunfight with Rapid Action Battalion (RAB).
The incident took place in the district's Salna area around 3am on Thursday.
Confirming the matter to Dhaka Tribune, RAB 1 Company Commander Lt. Commander Abdullah Al Mamun said: "RAB received a tip-off that some traders were dealing arms in Salna. A RAB patrol car drove to the area. The traders opened fire on law enforcement, prompting law enforcement to retaliate, triggering a gunfight.
"After the gunfight, the RAB team found the deceased trader, in his mid-30s, lying on the spot.
We sent the body to Shahid Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College Hospital Mortuary, Gazipur."
Two members of RAB, Ujjal and Sanaullah, were also injured in the incident. They are receiving treatment at the same hospital.
RAB is filing a case regarding the incident, with the police.
In Bogra, A suspected criminal has been killed in a reported gunfight with members of a rival group.
The incident took place in the district's Dharampur in the early hours of Friday.
The deceased is, Rafiq Anam Shorgo, 25.
Rafiq's father, Liakat Ali, was a top listed criminal in the area who was also killed in a reported gunfight with police, in 2006.
Confirming the matter, Sanatan Chakrabarty, additional superintendent of police (ASP) and also media wing chief of Bogra district police, said: "A patrol team of the police responded to gunshots in the area. I, along with Sadar police station Officer-in-Charge SM Badiuzzaman recovered Rafiq's body from the spot.
"The deceased has several cases against him in different police stations. His body has been sent to the Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College (SZMC) for autopsy."
Police recovered one gun and a knife from the spot.
