Woman raped for 4 years in Manikganj

Seven more women and girls were raped and sexually harassed in five districts

A woman, reportedly raped for four years in Ghior upazila of Manikganj, was threatened to silence until now.

The rape survivor filed a case against Md Ali Uzzal, 40, when he raped the woman on Tuesday, with her daughter in the next room. 

Ali made the woman bring her daughter to a residential building, but he failed to rape girl. When locals confronted him out of suspicion, he escaped, dropping his phone.

Manikganj police said, a case was filed against Md Ali Uzzal, and Manira Begum, the building owner.

Mother and daughter have undergone medical tests at Manikganj General Hospital. A   drive is underway to arrest the accused, and his phone will be scanned for evidence, police added.

Pregnant woman raped, tortured in Bandarban

A six-month pregnant woman, reportedly gang raped on Tuesday by five men in Lama upazila of the district, was tortured by a UP member during arbitration on the matter.

After a man named Noor Hossain, and his associates drugged the woman, and raped her, locals rescued her in critical condition from a field near Angharipara. 

Later, an arbitration was held, headed by local UP member Kamal Uddin, where the woman was tortured by Kamal, and his son, Kafi Uddin, locals said.

Lama police station OC, Raju Naha, said: “The rape survivor did not report the incident. If she reports the incident, a case will be filed," the OC added.

In Jessore, police arrested a priest, over attempted rape of a nine-year-old child, in Sri Sri Thakur Anukul Chandra temple in Birampur.

Jessore Kotwali police station Inspector, Samir Kumar said: “On Sunday, during morning prayers, Prokash lured the girl and tried to rape her. After she screamed, the women present there rescued the child and informed the police.”

The police arrested Prakash on Tuesday night from the temple after the child’s mother filed a case in this regard.

In Jhenaidah, police arrested the headmaster of a government primary school on charges of sexually harassing his students.

Abdus Sattar, headmaster of Al Hera Government Primary School in the city, was arrested on Wednesday. 

Three schoolgirls, all fourth-graders, voiced allegations of being inappropriately touched by the headmaster during classes.  

Their enraged parents,  went to the school and attacked the headmaster. Upon being informed, police arrested Sattar, and filed a case. 

In Chatmohar upazila, Pabna, two unidentified men wearing masks, assaulted a 13-year-old schoolgirl, reportedly, after failing to rape her.

The incident took place at the girl’s grandparents’ house in Boalia of Parshadanga Union, on Tuesday. 

When the masked men attempted to rape the eighth-grader, she started screaming, and was drawing attention; the duo injured the girl with knife and ran away. 

Locals rescued the girl, had her admitted to Bhangura Upazila Health Complex, and informed the police.

In Satkhira, a case was filed against a teacher for sexually harassing a sixth-grader at Shyamnagar Nakipur Haricharan Pilot Secondary School.

The girl filed the case against Hafizur Rahman, after he inappropriately touched her during a class on Monday around 12pm.

Shyamnagar police OC Habil Hossain said: “We are working on arresting the accused teacher.”
