The smugglers fled the scene, leaving the goods behind
Three trucks of Indian imitation jewellery worth Tk1.76 crore have been seized in the Amrakhali area.
Tipped-off that a consignment of imitation jewelry was being smuggled in from India, a Border Guards Bangladesh (BGB) team conducted a drive and seized the trucks—with the contraband items—on Monday night.
Confirming the incident, LT Col Salim Reza, commanding officer of BGB 49 battalion said, upon seeing them, the smugglers fled the scene, leaving the goods behind.
The seized goods have been deposited in a Benapole Customs warehouse.
A case has been filed in this regard.
